In Naruto there’s something called doujutsu, or ocular jutsu, in this, there are several different eyes with a lot of cool powers, exotics, and the ocular jutsu that has more powers and mysteries around it, is the Rinnegan.
Rinnegan is the most powerful doujutsu of all time, and only a few people managed to awake it, and that serves for you to know how rare and mysterious this eye is.
What if we try to understand everything about this crazy eye?
Firstly where did it come from?
Long time ago, Kaguya Otsutsuki fell in earth, in that, she ate a fruit of the big Shinzu tree and awoke a tramenduous power, besides an insane amount of chakra, she received a doujutsu, the Rinne-Sharingan, years later she gave birth to two boys, one of them was Hagoromo Otsutsuki, also known as the sage of the six paths. As the Rinne-Sharingan was stuck in Kaguya’s genetic, it passed to the baby, who awoke his own variation of the Doujutsu, the Rinnegan.
So, Hagoromo was the first person awakening the Rinnegan because of the Rinne-Sharingan his mother had, with the Rinnegan he saved the world from the 10 tails, and created the Ninshu, the first version of what we know as Ninjutsu, the man was considered a god because of the powers given by this eye.
How to Awake the Rinnegan
Unlike the Mangekyou Sharingan, the Rinnegan does not want you to kill your best friend or have any kind of strong feelings, it is not necessary, see, Hagoromo was the first “being” to awaken the Rinnegan, so to awaken this Doujutsu, you need to have his special chakra, and he had 2 children, Indra and Ashura, both of them in certein moment started to go on hands, wanting to kill each other, and this fight continued even after their death, their chakra reincarnated during centuries, continuing this unfished battle, and the Black Zetsu has always manipulated these Reincarnations, so they could awaken the Rinnegan and take her mother out of the sealing, but Zetsu spent Centuries failing and finally got it after long time, with who? Uchiha Madara.
Madara somehow got to read part of the Uchiha’s Tab, and found out what he had to do to awaken the Rinnegan, so this is it, on the final battle between Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashimara, Madara played all dog taking a bite in Hashimara’s arm, and took a piece of meat, GET THE DETAILS, he survived that fight, because of the Izanagi, and when he arrived in his cave, he threw up the piece of meat and implanted in his own body, letting the body adapting itself to Hashimara’s DNA, that was going to produce Hashirama’s chakra in him, Hashirama was Ashura‘s reincarnation, Madara was Indra‘s, so when Madara implanted Hashirama’s meat in his own body, he made a fusion of both their chakra and eventually formed the Rinnegan, so it’s basically, (Indra + Ashura = Hagoromo = Rinnegan), joining the children’s Chakra to get access to the father’s Chakra, and so awaken the Rinnegan, got it?
Plus, Madara did not get it immediately, he implanted Hashirama’s DNA and spent decades, without awakening anything, he only got it when he was too old, so another factor to awaken the Rinnegan is passing through an experience of almost death, for you to have an idea, at that point, Madara was already in the end of his narutal life, and so then he awakens the Rinnegan, he only ramained alive because, like, thanks to Rinnegan, he could summon the Geddo statue and use it as source of life.
So basically, Madara was the first human awakening the Rinnegan, Hagoromo was half alien so let’s not count, but Madara’s Rinnegan went through several hands though, Madara gave it to little Nagato, after Nagato’s death, Obito took one eye and gave the other one to white Zetsu to hide it, in the end Madara was revived and recovered both eyes.
So, those who have the Rinnegan implanted, means, those who did not awake it Naturally, they cannot diactivate the Doujutsu and can also not manage both eyes together, which was Obito’s case, and the eyes only show the real power when they are with the original user.
Sasuke was the secund human awakening the Rinnegan, but he did that in a different way, sort of, but he technically followed the rules, he had been stabed with his own sword by Madara, so he was dying already, but then Kabuto arrived and inserted a snake inside him, in a good sense ok? he started to heal Sasuke, using Hashirama’s cells, who was the old Ashura’s reincarnation, and Sasuke was the atual Indra’s reincarnation, and was passing through an experience of almost death, so he followed the rules, but it was only because of Hagoromo himself, that Sasuke got to awaken the Rinnegan, the Rikkudo appeared in Sasuke,s subconcious, gave half of his power to him, which made that he awakens the doujutsu. But for receiving the chakra from the own Rikkudo-sannin, Sasuke awoke the suprime Rinnegan, upper Rinnegan, maximum of the maximum, there’s nothing beyond it.
Unlike the normal Rinnegan, this one possesses tomoes like a Sharigan, the other guy that got the Rinnegan is, Otsutsuki Momoshiki, yeeah okay, this one i have no idea, i don’t know, instead of having eyes in his face like everyone, he is all different , he has it in his hands, gross.
This Rinnegan is red with white lines, but when he devores Kinshiki, the Rinnegan turns golden and even grows one additional in his forehead… And there’s also Otsutsuki Urashiki, who had a Rinnegan that looks like Sasuke’s, but red, guys, there’s no explanation for these aliens to have a Rinnegan, when it’s something that Hagoromo’s genetics created.
Okay we already know the origin, how to awaken and the users of this doujutsu, let’s now see the abilities of these crazy eyes.
The collection of technique that the Rinnegan gives to the user is called “six path’s technique“.
- ANIMAL PATH
With this power the user can summon an entire zoo, it’s really animal, for real now, the animal path, allows the user to summon a collection of giant animals, and imortals to help in the battle without necessarilly have contact with them, these animals are controlled by the Rinnegan.
2. ASHURA PATH
This power makes that the user become a robot, practically, seriously they gain a mechanic armor and access to many weapons like missile, blades and so on.
3. DEVA PATH
The user gains a gravitational control, managing to control it in two ways, repulsive or attractive, Shinra tensei or almighty push, sends a great gravitational wave, while Banshoten pulls everything to the user. With this power he can even use Shibaku tensei or planetary devastation, which a version, of the technique that created the moon, attracting all the surroundings to a gravitational orb.
4. HUMAN PATH
This path allows the user to absorve someone’s souls by simply putting a hand in the head of victim killing him instantaneously.
5. NARAKA PATH
The user can summon the king of the hell, it is that bizarre head that comes from the underground, this king of the hell have the power to interrogate and heal, if the user asks a question to the opponent, the opponent’s soul is taken and he dies, if he tells the truth, the opponent only pass out. To use the healing ability, the user needs to get inside the king’s mouth, and seconds later he will be free of all damages.
6. PRETTA PATH
With this, the user can absorve any ninjutsu and even the opponent’s chakra, turning the chakra into yours.
Now you’re probably saying: “Ufff, it’s done right?”
No! there’s more.
There was the seventh path, known as EXTERIOR PATH, that allows the user to summon the Geddo-mazo, this ugly thing, can take out a dragon of chakra from its mouth, that absorves the soul of everything it touches, instant kill, this exterior path also allows the user to bring someone back to life.
- The Rinnegan can see chakra as well as the flux, like the point of chakra inside someone’s body, but cannot see through fogs and so on.
- With the Rinnegan the user can learn any technique, as well as all the 5 basic transformations of the nature easily.
- The user of the Rinnegan is capable of creating black receptors, which he can transmite his chakra to long distance.
- He is capable of recognizing codes and decipher unknown languages.
- The rinnegan is capable of going against the effects of the infinite Tsukyuome, making the user to become unaffectable to the most powerful genjutsu of all.

Those who awake the Rinnegan, can use unique abilities separated from these 6 paths, and only the person who awakens the Rinnegan can use these technique, so logically people who suffered an implant couldn’t use.
Madara’s Rinnegan gave him an ability called “Limbo Hengoku“, with this he makes invisible shadows of other dimension to attack the opponents, these shadows have the same power as the orginal, and like, besides invisible they’re also untouchable, so you cannot even hurt them, and Madara got to use until 4 shadows.
Sasuke’s Rinnegan gave him a pretty goddamn cool technique, the “Amenotejikara“, with it Sasuke can teleport everything in his field of vision, and can teleport himself and even change people’s position, this was very helpful against Momoshiki to get him trapped in his own chains and later even change the place a shidori with a Kunai.
Momo also has an unique ability, he absorves any ninjutsu and uses it at any moment he wants with a potential multiplied several times.
Hagoromo has a technique of creating all the things, he was literally a god, the Rikkudo Sannin imagined a form, and with the liberation “Yin“, he makes this form become true, after it he used the liberation “Yang“, and give life to this form.
That’s how he actually created the 9 tailed beasts.
