The plot continues where the previous chapter left off, with the world reacting to Dr. Vegapunk’s impactful message and the Five Elders ordering actions against the remaining variants of Vegapunk.
However, the central focus of the story is on Bonney, facing off against the Marines and Marcus Mars in her Awakened Beastly Form. Monkey D. Luffy, in his Gear 5 form, motivates Bonney to fight alongside him to protect the Elbaf ship.
After some initial hesitation, the inspiration in the form of Luffy’s “Joy Boy” allows Bonney to transform into “Joy Girl” using the Future Distortion powers of her Aging Fruit.
The basic ability of the Aging Fruit allows Bonney to temporarily manipulate her own age and that of others, but her advanced power allows her to transform into a possible future variant of herself for a limited time.
However, to perform this transformation, Bonney needs to fully believe in the vision, requiring determination and a strong mental foundation.
Learning about the legend of “Nika, the Sun God” from her father, and watching Luffy in action with his Gear 5 form were crucial for Bonney to achieve her new “Joy Girl” form.
Previously, in “Egghead”, Bonney was able to match Luffy’s elastic powers from the Gomu Gomu Fruit – or, more specifically, from the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika.
Although chapter 1118 ends before readers see Joy Girl Bonney in action, she should theoretically be able to emulate Luffy’s Gear 5 powers. Visually, she already perfectly resembles Luffy’s Gear 5.
While Bonney’s “Joy Girl” form is more limited in time and power compared to Luffy’s Gear 5, becoming the legend she has always dreamed of is a remarkable achievement for the female pirate.
This further fuels speculation that Bonney may join Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates on future adventures, possibly towards the kingdom of Elbaf.
